What interested you in working at the New York Athletic Club?

I saw an opening at the NYAC and was familiar with its reputation because my grandfather used to teach self-defense with the Judo Club at the City House for over 30 years.  He passed away a couple of months after I started working at the NYAC before I could really ask him questions about it.  I still have his Judo membership card, what seems to be an athletic membership card and a couple of Winged Foot magazines from 1962 and 1991 that he wrote articles in. He did this while working at the NYPD also teaching self-defense.

What is the best part about working at the New York Athletic Club?

As someone who loves history and sports, the opportunity to work in an atmosphere infused with both is a dream come true. The sheer amount of Club history—athletic or otherwise—is astonishing. I also cherish the healthy work-life balance that the NYAC provides, and I enjoy hearing about the hobbies and passions of my colleagues; I often come away from conversations with recommendations for a trip to plan or a book to read.
