Awards

Awarded every year to the coaches who lead their teams to victory in the grueling NCAA men's and women's basketball tournaments. In honor of the champion coaches, the New York Athletic Club hosts a gala event at the City House, a veritable who's who of stars from the world of collegiate basketball. The NYAC's Hall of Fame, on the second floor of the City House, houses a special Winged Foot Award annex, where portraits of past winners hang alongside the stunning eponymous award.
Honoring the leading student-athlete in college football, the Campbell Award is presented awarded each December at a spectacular ceremony held at New York's Waldorf-Astoria. The Campbell Trophy and portraits of the winners are displayed in the NYAC's Hall of Fame, illustrative of the unwavering adherence of the Club to its founding mandate of supporting excellence in amateur sport.
The New York Athletic Club is a proud recipient of the World Athletics Heritage Plaque, a location-based recognition awarded by the international governing body of track and field for outstanding contributions to the worldwide history and development of the sport.

The award marks the start of a four-year heritage agreement between the Museum of World Athletics (MOWA) and the NYAC. Central to this cooperation is exploring the potential of both organizations’ historic collections of memorabilia to promote track and field.

The plaque was presented to NYAC President John Duggan, Vice President Ed Smith and Captain Jim Herschlein at a special ceremony on August 1st, 2024 during the Olympic Games in Paris. The unveiling took place on September 27th, 2024 in the City House Hall of Fame, where the plaque is proudly displayed, serving as a constant reminder to members and guests of the New York Athletic Club’s distinguished history in the sport of track and field.
